Impressive/Unimpressive: Kansas The Unintelligent Decision

October 1, 2007

Joe Jacobs - SCR

Impressive:

Greg Biffle: Biffle finally gets back in Victory Lane, after all the contract talks and mediocre runs he finally wins for the first time since the last race at Homestead in 2006. I still think he needs to move on to better things.

Clint Bowyer: Bowyer finished second in his home state; you know he wanted that win bad.

Gillett Evernham Motorsports: Elliott Sadler and Kasey Kahne both finish in the top 10 and Scott Riggs finishes in the top 15. To bad it is too little to late.

Unimpressive:

NASCAR:  They probably made the worst decision in their history trying to get the Kansas race in after two long rain delays. Their thought process must lack all knowledge and common sense.

It took over two hours to dry the track and because of that the race should have been called. But to make sure the Chase is not a runaway and to prevent someone that it is oblivious and not a NASCAR favorite from winning the race and possibly the championship they make the decision to restart and shorting the race by 47 laps.

NASCAR owes, Matt Kenseth, Martin Truex, Denny Hamlin, and Tony Stewart apologies for the atrocities that were charged against them today.

Brian France, Robin Pemberton, and Mike Helton should be embarrassed for lacking the incite to call the race due to the lack of time to complete the full distance.

Not only were the drivers mentioned above cheated out of a great race, the fans at home and at the track were cheated today. The decision makers in NASCAR cheated the fans more than the weather ever would.

I would expect something like this from Formula 1, IRL, and CART. But NASCAR was supposed to be different; fans expect and should get more.

Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson: Yes Clint Bowyer was on the Impressive list but with his and Jimmie Johnson’s comments after the race they both make the unimpressive list also.

Was Biffle out of gas, depends on who you talk to. According to Bowyer and Johnson he was and should not have won the race. According to Biffle he still had some left and was told to stop in the grass.

Bowyer and Johnson had great runs finishing second and third and I understand drivers always want more but to whine over 10 feet show the lack of sportsmanship these two had Sunday.
