“Montoya touched
me, (Dale Earnhardt) Junior fans were mean to me……….” just a small paraphrase of some of Tony Stewarts’
post race whines as reported by Scene Daily. He went on to say “As soon as I get enough money saved to where I can retire,
I'd be more than happy to step away” and let’s not forget this gem, “It's disheartening when you have 180,000
people booing you every time you come around. That's what makes this stuff not fun anymore. It's not about the racing.”
Poor little guy. Everyone
knows that the tender little feller has never intentionally wrecked anyone, that was someone else in an orange Home Depot
cars a couple of years ago on the mission to single handed eliminate every under funded car from competition by wrecking them
out. It was a Tony Stewart look-a-like who insulted 200,000 + fans at Talladega
with derogatory comments. It was someone else with the dire predictions that “someone is gonna get killed the way they
are driving here (Daytona)” then went out and played bumper cars the whole race. Kleenex is sponsoring the wrong driver.
Someone pass around the tissues.
Hello Tony? You do not
have enough cash? Most race fans could live lavishly the rest of their lives on your salary from last year. It’s not
“fun” anymore? At last check, WoO is still holding sprint car races nearly every week. One would assume the owner
of Eldora Speedway would let him race there every week. There are 1000’s of drivers across this country who still think
racing is fun and would find it even more fun in the top notch equipment that Joe Gibbs Racing provides Stewart week in and
week out.
Getting booed: Was it not the
late great Dale Earnhardt who said, “I don’t care if they are cheering me or booing me, they are watching me.”?
Well Tony, they are watching you. What is not to watch? Stewart is without a doubt one the most talented drivers on the Nextel
Cup circuit. Watching the masterful way he handles a car, pushing it far beyond its capabilities would be enough, but Stewart
offers so much more. One never knows for instance what perceived slight or offense another driver may make towards Stewart
necessitating yet another quest for vengeance. Which driver (or ten) will it be Stewart’s personal mission to take out
during any particular race? Oh the drama he provides. His off track performance is even better. Which reporter will he punch
next? Which camera will he knock aside next? Which driver will be blamed next? For answers to all these questions and
more stay tuned next week to the same Bat Time and the same Bat Channel………

Love him or hate him,
one has to admit he adds spice to NASCAR in a time they are trying to become more sterile and generic. Dry your eyes Tony
with one of those tissues passed out earlier and do not retire. You offer so much to both fans and media. It is a pleasure
to watch you save a car that is sideways and never get out of the throttle or start at the back and slice your way to the
front, just to mention but two of the many examples of your incredible skill. Your big paycheck needs to continue because
you do so much good with it; your generosity to multiple charities, over and above the “norm” uncovers the class
you try so hard to hide. Your willingness to speak your mind is appreciated; even your temper tantrums are refreshing.
Tony Stewart does not just
add one more dimension to NASCAR; he adds at least three. It will be a sad day when he steps away from racing in the largest
venue in America.
